PERSONAL STATEMENT
Creativity has been the focal point of my work professionally and personally both in CAD work and now in landscape architecture. What pushed me to make this career change is believing in the importance of how landscape architecture can protect and elevate the ecosystem and social system while maintaining its balance. Looking back to the 17 years I lived in San Francisco, my favorite and most at peace ventures were the parks and coastal trails. Having access to these areas is invaluable and I respect these places for what they are and what they offer to our sense of well-being. During my MLA program, I have developed a deeper understanding of how important the intimate experience of green space and placemaking is for an individual and community as well as the challenges of creating compelling urban conditions. Our surroundings have a very deep connection to how we feel emotionally and physically. I see an opportunity to build environments that offer ecological balance, harmony for human and animal communities, connection, accessibility, and well-being for all that occupy urban space. As I grow my knowledge further in this field, it is my goal to apply my passion for form and design to create spaces that inspire, nourish, respect, and embrace the soul of the community. I hope to find opportunities to flourish in this endeavor.
